Libraries

Buloke Shire Council has memberships with Swan Hill Regional Library, Wimmera Regional Library and the Goldfields Library Corporation.

State-of-the-art mobile Libraries operated by these library services visit the within townships of Buloke on a regular basis. The mobile Libraries are completely self-contained, and are linked to the main library systems to allow mobile Library staff to re-loan books, check any items not returned, and reserve popular items.

Swan Hill Regional Mobile Library

The Swan Hill Regional Mobile Library carries more than 8,000 items available on two-week loans. The mobile Library visits 17 townships each fortnight, including Berriwillock, Culgoa, Nullawil, Sea Lake and Wycheproof within Buloke Shire. Memberships are available to all residents of Buloke Shire; identification with a current address is required to sign up.

The Swan Hill Regional Mobile Library visits the following Buloke townships on alternate Wednesdays.

Wimmera Regional Mobile Library

The Wimmera Regional Mobile Library visits Donald and Watchem every fortnight.

• Watchem 3.30 - 4.30 Thursday (fortnightly)
• Donald 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 4.30pm Friday (fortnightly)
• On alternate Fridays the Library operates from the Donald HUB in Wood St from 12.30 - 4.30pm.
• All items have loan periods of 28 days.
• Birchip Library is co-located with the Birchip P-12 school Library. The Library may be accessed during school hours. Additional community opening hours are:
• Tuesday 4.30 – 7.30pm
• Thursday 4.30 – 7.30pm
• Saturday 9.00 – 11.00am

The Birchip Library offers Free Wi-Fi access, computer access and photocopying.

E Books, E Magazines, and E Audio books are available from the Library website for Library members.

Goldfields Library Corporation Mobile Library

The Goldfields Library Corporation Mobile Library visits Charlton every second Friday. The Mobile Library is open on High Street from 10.00am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 4.30pm.

The loan period is three weeks. Library staff are happy to renew items over the telephone during opening hours, although if a reservation has been placed on an item you have on loan a renewal is not permitted. Please call 03 5449 2790 and have your library card number on hand. Membership is suspended if you have overdue items and outstanding charges.

The library will be in Charlton on the following dates in 2015:

• November 6 and 20
• December 4 and 18
